Guest Journey Inspector

Follow individual guests through your park, understand their behaviour, and intervene when things go wrong.

What does it do?

RollerCoaster Tycoon simulates a surprising amount of behaviour for every guest in your park, but much of that information can be difficult to observe while playing.

Guest Journey Inspector lets you select an individual guest and follow their experience in detail.

It combines live guest statistics with a chronological journey log, allowing you to see how a guest's needs and behaviour change over time. You can follow them around the park, watch problems develop, and use a collection of optional interventions to experiment with how those problems affect their subsequent behaviour.

Guest Inspector

Choose any guest currently in your park using the searchable guest picker.

The inspector displays important information at a glance, including:

Happiness Energy Cash Hunger Thirst Toilet need Nausea Preferred ride intensity Whether the guest is leaving the park Whether the guest is lost Current animation/activity Latest thought

Guests in particularly interesting states, such as those leaving the park or with low happiness, are prioritised in the guest picker.

Follow Guest

Enable Follow guest and the main OpenRCT2 viewport will continuously follow the selected guest as they move around the park.

This makes it possible to actually watch their journey rather than repeatedly having to locate them as they wander away.

Following can be stopped at any time without stopping the inspection itself.

Journey Log

While a guest is being tracked, Guest Journey Inspector builds a chronological record of significant events during their visit.

Recorded events can include:

Entering or leaving the park Deciding to leave Reconsidering a decision to leave Becoming lost or recovering New thoughts Spending or receiving money Acquiring items Eating or drinking Sitting on a bench Reading a park map Vomiting Significant changes in hunger, thirst, toilet need or nausea Very low or substantially recovered happiness Very low or substantially recovered energy

The aim is to record meaningful changes rather than flood the log with every minor fluctuation in the guest's statistics.

Interventions

Guest Journey Inspector also allows you to intervene directly with the currently selected guest.

Available interventions include:

Reconsider – clears the guest's current intention to leave the park +£10 cash – gives the guest an additional £10 Restore energy – restores the guest's energy Restore happiness – restores the guest's happiness Relieve hunger – removes the guest's hunger Relieve thirst – removes the guest's thirst Relieve toilet – removes the guest's toilet need Ease nausea – removes the guest's nausea

Interventions are entirely optional. The plugin can be used purely as an observational and diagnostic tool if you prefer not to alter guest behaviour.

Observe, Intervene, Observe

Every intervention is recorded in the guest's journey log, including relevant before-and-after values.

This allows the plugin to be used as a small behavioural laboratory.

For example, you might discover a guest who is exhausted, unhappy and heading for the exit. Restore only their energy and continue following them to see whether their behaviour changes.

Or give a guest with no money another £10 and observe what they choose to spend it on.

Rather than simply providing a collection of cheats, the interventions are designed to work alongside the inspector so you can experiment with individual parts of OpenRCT2's guest simulation and see what happens next.

Installation Download the Guest Journey Inspector JavaScript plugin. Place the .js file in your OpenRCT2 plugin directory. Start or restart OpenRCT2. Open a park. Select Guest Journey Inspector from the map menu. Choose a guest and start exploring their journey. Performance

Guest Journey Inspector is designed to have minimal impact on normal gameplay.

Detailed inspection is limited to the guest you have selected rather than continuously performing expensive analysis across the entire park.

The selected guest is sampled frequently enough to detect meaningful changes and maintain smooth viewport following without requiring repeated full-park scans.

Philosophy

Guest Journey Inspector started from a simple question:

What is this particular guest actually experiencing in my park?

OpenRCT2 exposes a remarkably detailed guest simulation, but watching a sprite walk around rarely tells the whole story.

The plugin brings that information together into one place, creating a readable history of an individual visit while still allowing you to watch the guest moving through the park itself.

The intervention tools add a second question:

What happens if I change just one thing?

You can therefore use Guest Journey Inspector simply to watch, to diagnose problems in your park, or to experiment directly with the simulation.

Compatibility
